mPortal Secures $4 Million In New Funding New Round of Financing to Extend mPortal's Leadership Position in the Mobile Content and Application Delivery Market.
Vienna, VA - September 26, 2005 - mPortal, a leading enabler of mobile content and applications, today announced it has secured $4 million in a new round of funding to help accelerate its growth, as mobile content and applications become more critical. Friedli Corporate Finance, a venture capital firm based in Zurich, Switzerland, provided the funding. The newest round of funding follows a year of record growth for mPortal and is designed to help mPortal accelerate product enhancements to its Springboard Content Delivery Manager and its Springboard Smart Client. The Springboard family of products enables the discovery, delivery and management of mobile content and application management for mobile network operators (MNOs), mobile virtual networks operators (MVNOs), content providers, and enterprises. mPortal will also use the infusion to continue to build out its professional services arm, which is seeing unprecedented opportunity and is actively involved in helping multiple MVNOs launch their mobile content and application businesses later this year and next.
"Following Asian and European markets, mobile applications are finally taking hold in the U.S. We are seeing consumers across segments turn to their wireless devices as an important channel for experiencing data-driven content," stated Adam Guy, Managing Director of Wireless Practices at Compete. "Usability is an ongoing critical success factor and companies that enable the delivery and management of mobile applications are playing an increasingly critical role in the wireless value chain."
"Friedli Corporate Finance invests in innovative companies that have clear traction with their customers and are able to execute on a vision", said Peter Friedli, principal and founder of Friedli Corporate Finance. "mPortal has built a strong track record of executing successfully and is working with some of the leading players in the mobile content and applications space. mPortal also has shown tremendous traction in the emerging MVNO market, having obtained several global brands as customers. mPortal is entering a dramatic growth phase, where it will expand its products and services portfolio and establish itself as a major player in the global market for years to come. The new infusion of capital will enable mPortal to increase its capabilities at its US and Indian operations."
"This past year has been a very exciting year for mPortal, as we had the opportunity to work closely with some leading edge MVNO players, content companies, and network operators that truly see and realize the profit potential of mobile content and applications," said DP Venkatesh, CEO and Founder of mPortal. "In Friedli Corporate Finance, we have a partner with the resources and commitment to help us get to the next stage in our growth path. The investments we have made over the past five years in our products as well as our flexible business model is coming to fruition now that the mobile content and applications market is gaining momentum worldwide.
