Delivery Manager, India

Job Description:

mPortal Inc. seeks several Delivery Managers for its Bangalore, India, office with significant experience in managing all technology- and software-related functions for specific customers. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, proactive, and an out -of-the-box thinker. He or she will demonstrate high levels of initiative and integrity, and  bring together a strong technical foundation with strong people management and leadership skills.  mPortal is a fast-paced entrepreneurial company specializing in cutting-edge mobile products and technologies. It is  based in the U.S. with operations in both the U.S. and India.  

As part of this key role, the Delivery Manager will manage the Customer software delivery team that will be responsible for the delivery of mobile applications (on platforms such as iPhone, Android, Blackberry, BREW/BMP, Java) and server-side software.  The individual will be responsible for all aspects of building the team including hiring, performance review, and maintaining a strong team environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Reporting to the VP, Customer Delivery, mPortal India, the Delivery Manager will have the following key responsibilities:

    • Manage all aspects of the implementation and delivery of software to mPortal customers worldwide
    • Ensure the timely, high-quality and cost-effective delivery of mobile software projects;
    • Own the overall accountability, for the end-to-end delivery of projects;
    • Perform project reviews on a consistent basis to ensure project delivery is on time and on budget.
    • Work with Account Managers to drive growth, quality and customer satisfaction;
    • Interact with the Account Management teams to make sure onsite / offshore workflow and communications are optimized
    • Represent mPortal to the customers at business reviews, and other critical meetings, for the overall delivery aspects and quality of delivery
    • Manage and be fully responsible for the resource and personnel management aspects of the Customer Delivery team
    • Lead recruitment activities: Work with the HR department to grow the team in size and capabilities, with the right resources and at the right pace;
    • Maintain high visibility into issues affecting employee satisfaction and happiness, while ensuring strategies are in place for highest levels of retention;
    • Provide leadership to, develop and maintain an effective team through the selection, training, compensation, motivation, termination and review of all personnel;
    • Maintain existing and establish new partners required for the delivery for the customer.

    Skills Requirements:

    • Strong technical background with expertise in Java technologies, and mobile software technologies.
    • Strong Interpersonal Skills.
    • Project Cost Estimation and Project Pricing.
    • Multi-tasking, out-of-the-box thinking.
    • Proficiency in the MS-Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and MS-Project.
    • Oral and Written Communication Skills.
    • Project Management Skills including tracking, reporting, and resource management.

    Experience Requirements:

    The ideal candidate will meet all or a majority of the following educational and professional experience requirements:

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or MIS from a nationally recognized institution.
    • 7+ years’ experience in the software development field, with demonstrated performance working with customers, leading the delivery of product and solution offerings.
    • 3+ years’ experience in project, program or development management.
    • Good understanding of and experience with off-shore software development model.
    • Good understanding of development processes (agile and other latest methodologies), quality and testing best practices.
    • Demonstrated skills and experience in team building and mentoring.
    • Experience working with the following phone platforms:  iPhone, Android, Blackberry RIM, Windows Mobile, BREW, any OEM platform.
    • Mature beyond their years with a solid track record of accomplishment.
    • Experience with telecom carriers, media companies and handset manufacturers and media companies a strong plus.
