Job Description: The Director, Technology Sales will be the technical point of contact for prospective and existing customers to help drive new sales opportunities and use a consultative approach to expanding new business at mPortal. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the Sales team, providing support in all technical aspects of developing and implementing technical solutions for customers. Key Job Responsibilities:
- Interact with all working levels at customers to evangelize our products and services to drive usage and follow-on solution sales.
- Lead the technical strategy for and development of proposals and RF(x) responses for new and existing customers.
- Provide technical leadership for our customers to ensure solutions meet the customers’ business and technical needs.
- Become an expert on the mPortal product portfolio, services and processes.
- Gain deep expertise on the customer systems and architecture.
- Work in conjunction with the Product Team to develop practical tools for use by the Sales team, including but not limited to documentation, ROI calculation tools, PowerPoint presentations and product demonstrations.
- Provide technical leadership and communication within other mPortal departments including: Product Management, Professional Services, Technical Support, Engineering, etc.
- Cultivate deep knowledge of the Handset and Wireless Industry, understanding the trends and activities affecting this industry.
- Gain a deep understanding of the technical environment of the market in which the business operates. This includes the technologies in use by the market segments.
- Ensure that all changes/implementations for a customer adhere to an architectural direction that will increase sales and provide superior customer satisfaction.
- Become recognized by the customer as someone that is empowered to solve their problems.
- Provide clear input to the Product Team about customer needs and business problems and how solutions for those needs might be considered for the product.
- Represent mPortal at trade shows by serving as the main technical focal point.
- Work closely with major Handset OEMs and industry experts to ensure the latest knowledge is realized.
Experience Requirements: - 5+ years overall pre-sales experience selling SW based solutions, customer facing product management or consulting experience.
- Experience in mobile platform/environments: Android; RIM; Windows Mobile; Symbian; BREW; Java ME; Palm OS; or Mobile Linux.
- Deep understanding of how handset platforms are architected and how they interact with the network.
- Understanding of wireless content discovery and delivery systems is a plus.
- Good understanding and knowledge in Mobile Application development, as well as experience working with Tier 1 and Tier 2 mobile network operators.
- Ability to maintain a focus on solving our customers’ business problems.
- Working knowledge of web services technologies and cross system integration techniques and standards.
- Quick learner that can apply new concepts to new situations.
- Ability to quickly apply broad understanding and market patterns to specific customers.
- Experience in an emerging organization that sells products/services into new markets a plus.
- Highly effective communicator. Written, verbal and presentation skills are of a high standard.
- Technical understanding of the marketplace and underlying customer processes.
- Passionate about success and winning. High degree of credibility, expertise, confidence and integrity.
